Directions & Parking

Location

WordCamp will be held in the Highsmith Student Union at UNC Asheville, just north of downtown Asheville.

Parking Permit

In order to park at the UNCA campus, you must have a parking permit. Visit the link below and complete all information. Be sure to include all days you will be attending. The most important piece of information is the vehicle tag number, which is scanned by Campus Police when they are checking cars for valid permits. There is no need to print and display a paper permit.

Parking Permit Registration

If you will be driving a rental car, you may wait to register until you arrive in Asheville. The portal will not be shut down before the event. If you prefer to register ahead of time, you may register for a permit with all the information you know before coming, then can call Campus Police upon arrival to campus at 251-6710 to provide the vehicle information and tag number when it is known.

Your permit allows parking on Saturday & Sunday in lots P9, P15, P16, P17, P24, P25, and P26.

Directions

Please note that UNCA is currently undergoing some construction, so traffic direction will be one way through campus. Give yourself extra time to arrive and park as there will be a 5-10 minute walk to the Highsmith Student Union from the parking lots that are available to attendees.

We advise entering campus via W.T. Weaver Blvd from Merrimon Avenue or Broadway. However, you will get there most efficiently on Saturday morning by coming on Merrimon Avenue since a half-marathon and 10K race will mean that portions of Broadway will be closed to traffic or you will face delays. Note that Campus Drive will also be closed for this race on Saturday morning. Therefore, it is highly advisable to follow Merrimon Avenue to W.T. Weaver Blvd for entering UNCA.

See the map below for more detailed instructions and available parking areas for permitted cars. You may also visit the UNCA interactive map.

Accessible parking: Any vehicle displaying a valid disability placard or license plate may park in marked handicapped spaces regardless of the permitted lot type. You must still register for a UNCA parking permit in order to use any of these spaces.
