According to DreamHost
“When you put your dreams online—your words, your photos, your creations—you shouldn’t have to worry about your service provider mining that data for marketing purposes. Those are your dreams — not ours! DreamHost’s open platform gives you the power to share your data and the freedom to control how it’s used.”
This is why we know DreamHost can be an excellent hosting option for any WordPress user. The WordCamp Asheville team had the pleasure of interviewing Brett Dunst, DreamHost’s VP of Corporate Communications, and here is what he had to say about the company and the WordPress platform.
1. What is your name and what do you do for your company?
Heya! I’m Brett Dunst and I’m DreamHost’s VP of Corporate Communications. That’s a fancy way of saying I spend my days watching over our brand’s voice and tone, fielding inquiries from press and analysts, and just generally making certain that the DreamHost story gets told in way that’s both true and beautiful. I write a lot of things!
2. What is the mission of your company?
A lot of companies have catchy mission and vision statements (we do too), but we went a bit further! We’ve got something that we call a “noble cause” that ties them both together. Our Noble Cause is, simply, “We help people own their digital presence.”
We believe that people should have the freedom to choose how their digital content is shared. In fact, that’s our vision statement!
Our mission is to foster success by providing the open web platform of choice, and for an overwhelming majority of our users, that platform is WordPress!
3. What makes your products or services unique?
DreamHost is absolutely focused on delivering the best managed WordPress experience we can to users of all skill levels, and we do it while supporting the open web and standing up for user privacy.
From entry-level shared hosting, to our VPS-based managed WordPress package, to our unmanaged cloud computing platform, DreamHost users can run WordPress on a full spectrum of hosting environments to meet every budget, need, and skill level.
4. Why do you love WordPress?
WordPress brings the creativity of people and the power of computers together in a way that few platforms have been able to accomplish. The WordPress community is incredible and never ceases to amaze us! It’s full of thousands of helpful people, all focused as much on improving the core platform as it is to ensuring that anyone who wants their voice heard online gets that chance.
WordPress is a key piece of the Open Web, and we can’t wait to see where it goes next!
At WordCamp Asheville we are so grateful to have sponsors who truly care about community, open source technology, and the experience of their customers. Thanks DreamHost!
